A BBMA delegation headed by Mr. Khalid Abdul Rahman Almoayed, BBMA Chairman, participated in the activites of the 11th Seminar for Arab Business Society which was held in Damascus, Syria under the patronage of H.E. the Syrian President, Mr. Bashar Al Assad.

The Seminar was opened on Saturday 15th December 2007 by the Sponsor of the conference represented by Mr. Abdulla Al Dardari. Those who spoke included the President of the Syrian Businessmen’s and Businesswomen’s Association, Mr. Haitham Jood, the President of the Arab Businessmen Union, Mr. Hamdi Al Tabbaa and the Assistant Secretary General of Economic Affairs in the Arab League, Dr. Mohammed Al Tuwaijiri.

The seminar included seven sessions which lasted for two days in which Mr. Khalid Almoayed headed the 5th session entitled “Towards Developing the Investment Environment in the Arab States”. He also attended the meeting of Arab Businessmen Union Board of Directors in which a decision was adopted to hold the next seminar in Cairo in December 2008.

The events of the Seminar included several meetings with a number of Syrian ministers and the Algerian Minister of Economy in addition to visit paid by the heads of the groups to the Syrian Prime Minister as well as a number of luncheon and dinner banquets with were sponsored by a number of the Syrian business community.

BBMA signed a Protocol for joint co-operation between the Bahraini side represented by the attendees from the BBMA and the Syrian side represented by the Syrian Businessmen’s and Businesswomen’s Association headed by Mr. Haitham Jood, President of the Association. The Agreement provides for trade and economic exchange between both countries and benefiting from the investment opportunities which seek the interest of both countries as a support from both associations to activate the authorities’ effort and the senior leaders in both countries to conclude economic agreements that boost economic development in the Arab States.

Mr. Khalid Abdulrahman Almoayed, BBMA’s Chairman, Mr. Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, Mr. Mohammed Salah and Mr. Ahmed Behzad participated in the delegation.
